I have a Jones mystery that I am struggling with and maybe someone with access to 1871 census where relationships to head of household stated, could help.
My great grandfather was William Henry JONES, a butcher of Wombridge, Shropshire b. 1836, Wellington, Shropshire. When he married Sarah Ann TEECE on 07/11/1865, at "The Parish Church" Wombridge, his father was John JONES, a forgeman at ironworks. his mother is not known, His death certificate 29/1/1899, Wombrige gives no clues to mother and he was born prior to official registration started in 1837. The 1881, 1891, census's make sense regarding known 11 children. A helpfull lady with a CD of 1871 census looked up family but stated the information that is not give on CD is the relationships to head of family, and I am puzzled who 4 JONES individuals were. Here ishousehold as given to me.
1871 census Wombridge
Vicar St
William Henry Jones 37 butcher
Sarah Ann " 25
Moses Henry " 4
Elizabeth " 3
John Edward " 3
Adelaide " 1
Mary Ann " 58 Housekeeper
Edwin " 25 forgeman
William " 20 "
Richard " 20 "

All down to youngest daughter Adelaide 1 (rest of 11 children born after 1871 but Elizabeth seems to have died young) are my family, but question is what relationship if any are Mary Ann (JONES ?), Edwin 25, William 20, and Richard 20 ? If Mary Ann was Williah Henry's mother, why did she name another son William as well?
On the 1881 census a John Jones, a forgeman at ironworks, age 67, Married and wife Elizabeth Jones, formerly dressmaker, age 68, had staying with them Mary Ann PRICE, sister in law, formerly domestic servant, married, aged 64. All born Wellington, census address
Dwelling Lawley Common

Census Place Wellington, Shropshire
Because of employment, and age etc. this John Jones seems a likely candidate to be William Henry's father, therefore mother likely Elizabeth? Help ! ! ! ? Please Contact: Cliff Jones

I am searching for the marriage of William MARTIN of Ireland and Mary JONES of Bagillt Flintshire.Their names we got from the birth certificate of their" eldest? " daughter Ellen MARTIN. Born 13 July 1876 in Bagillt. We thought we would find them in the St Catherine Index but did not despite having two independent searches made by two experienced researchers as well as our own
hunt. The family were also cited in the 1881 census. .Ellen is my grandmother who married Enoch HUGHES of Holywell. Mary JONES and William MARTIN, the missing folk, were my Great grand parents. The MARTIN family moved to the North East of England a few years after the birth of Ellen Martin were they found work mainly in the Coal Mines. To hit a brick wall so early in the

I have been unable to obtain any proof of the birth of my grandfather John Edward Jones in Rhyl, North Wales, in Nov. of 1885. He served in the Cheshire regiment before 1912, and then emigrated to Canada. He married Minnie Williams. His father's name was also John Jones, and he was also living in Canada when WW1 began. He had two brothers, and all four served in the war. The brothers are thought to have gone to Australia and the US. One of them was living in Michigan in the 1950s. Any help will be appreciated. John Edward Jones

Joh Jones b: Jan 21 1860 was my GGrandfather. He emigrated to the US where he married. Any information regarding his origins in Wales would be very much appreciated. Please Contact: Kris Minarsini

David A.Jones was my gggrandfather. He was born September 2, 1881 in Wales, county unknown. Daughter Annie Jones b:Sep 17 1854 Minersville, Pennsylvania USA. Searching for wife or parents. Any help would be deeply appreciated: Charlie Wells

David Jones was my gggfather he was born c1827 in Enfield Middlesex, I think, and his mother was unmarried. Her name was Elizabeth and as far as we know she never married. He was married twice first to Mary Anne LIVERMORE and later to Elizabeth STYLES (formerly HYATT) and lived in Loves Row Enfield. All of my research has produced results in the Enfield area and I presume that this is the family base. There is no record that I can find of either his birth or his death. We have been stuck here for about 12 years so any help would be appreciated.

Edward Jones: (1) trying to find the marriage of Edward Jones to Catherine who first appeared in Hereford where his son Christopher (1781-1853) was baptised at St. John the Baptist church Hereford in March 1781: (he was later to become a clergyman). Other children were William (1783 - ?1820) and James (1785-1805). Edward was a corn chandler with a business in Wye Bridge Street in the 1790s, but he and his son Edward were declared bankrupt in 1804. There were probably two other children – his elder son and partner Edward II; and a daughter may be the Catherine Jones who was living in 1841 with Edward II’s son Albert and was buried by Canon Christopher Jones in his parish of Canon Pyon in 1848 aged 66 – and so born about 1782. Assuming that Edward was also a son of Catherine, perhaps the marriage of Edward and Catherine and the baptism of Edward took place in the mother’s home parish? No firm information is known about the death of either of these Edwards, but Catherine died at the home of her son Christopher in 1831 aged 84, so was born about 1747. Please also see below. Please Contact: Evelyn Vigeon

(2) The son Edward II married Ann Barnett in Worcester in 1797 and they baptised children in both Hereford and Claines, Worcester. Their eldest son Edward (1797 – 1843) married Margaret Maddox on 24 December 1820 according to a family Bible – but the location is not recorded or so far discovered. At some stage he adopted his maternal grandmother’s surname and was known as Edward Stanton Jones. Does anyone know where they were married in 1820? Please Contact:Evelyn Vigeon

I am having a struggle getting back beyond my g g grandfather David Jones. My father is Austin Edward Jones, died 1966 in Canada. His father is Henry Amos Jones, died in 1943 in Canada (immigrated to Canada through the U.S. around 1899). His father is Henry Jones born 1823 in Pontypool, died in Pontypool 1895 (buried in London). His father is (we think) David Jones, born about 1795 or 1797 in Pontypool?? died in Pontypool, 1876. Now the problem-David is an unknown- because of the number of Davids and because he died before the 1881 census I cannot be sure. He married Rachel Ann Williams, born about 1801,died 1874. I found "a" David in Llanllawog, Carmarthen with those "about" dates. My father, Austin, told me the family had moved to south Wales sometime in the past from north or west Wales but did not know. I need to find David and Rachel and their parents and so on back. I need also to solidify the siblings of Henry David's son, I believe there are errors in the records I received from others. I need to find the ports and dates when Henry Amos left and came to the U.S. and then to Canada. Contact William A. Jones

Looking for siblings & parents of Robert Jones c: 1804, Kensington, Liverpool. He married twice, 1) Elizabeth Hall 2) Ellen Smith.
I am also looking for siblings, parents & descendants of John Jones c:1861, last known address in 1885 at Grosvenor Street, Pendlebury, Lancashire, the day of his sons (Alfred) wedding. Alfred married Elizabeth Walker of Bolton Road, Pendlebury, Lancashire. If you can possibly help, please contact: Shannon Jones

Elizabeth Jones was born in Merthyr Tydfil, Dec 24, 1827, but the family moved after her birth. The 1851 census has the family living in Merthyr Tydfil & the place of birth for the other children is shown as Swansea. However, I can't find the family on the 1841 census. Elizabeth obtained a divorce after 7 years & married David Richards in 1848/9 & had 5 children. David Richards & his sisters emigrated to New Zealand in 1855. Elizabeth later married Levi James. About 1880, Elizabeth & her descendants emigrated to Scranton, PA, USA, but returned to visit Merthyr Tydil around 1910. Any help with this family would be most welcome. Please Contact:David Edwards

I am trying to find my Grandfather David Jones. He was born in 1875, probably in the Rhondda, South Wales. He grew up in Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil and married Jane Owens on May 20th 1896 in Merthyr Tydfil. My Grandmother was b: 25 June, 1877 at Penwainfawr. Her parents were Thomas & Margaret. David had brothers, Solomon, George and a sister Elizabeth Ann. I have tried so hard to find him but to no avail. Someone must have some information, please contact: Barbara Reynolds

I am in the process of trying to put together our family tree. At present, we are looking for the ancestors of Robert W. Jones. He was born in 1847 in Northrop Flintshire Wales. As a young man he married Jane McCutchon-this may be misspelled--and they came to the USA. She was born in 1854, I think in Scotland, but they met in Wales. Any advice you have to solve this problem would be appreciated. Please Contact: Rosemary Jones

I have been searching, without any luck, for the birthplace of my ggrandfather William Jones. I do not know if he was born in Scotland or Wales, nor do I know his birthdate. He married my ggrandmother, Jean Hardie, in Kilsyth in 1870. He appeared in the 1871 census and his birthplace given was Kinrosshire, Croes. Kinross being Scottish and Croes being Welsh. The parents names as given on his marriage record were William Jones and Jean (m.s. McKechnie) Jones, and they were both given as being deceased. My ggrandfather died in 1875, so I could not track him on any other census. I have searched for the marriage of William Jones and Jean McKechnie, without finding them in Scotland or Wales. When my ggrandparents were married on 18 November 1870 his age given then was 20. He could have been born after that date and before the first of the year in 1849, or he could have been born in 1850. I truly am at a brickwall. I am planning a trip to Scotland and Wales in August and would like to have found more information by that time, as I plan on visiting the birthplaces of my mother, grandparents, and hopefully my great grandparents. Any information or help you might be able to give me would be appreciated. Thanks. Pat Tribby

I am looking for Georgina Jones. I have listed all the Georgina Jones' born between Jan 1855 and Dec 1862-all 40 of them. Somewhere in there is my GGrandmother. Georgina was living in Camberwell, Surrey in 1883 when she got married-her age is 23 on the certificate, but I'm begining to suspect that's not accurate. She married Thomas Arnold and stated that her father was a Charles Jones, General Dealer. I have searched for a Charles Jones in the 1861 census but have not been able to find a Georgina with any of them. The witnesses on Georgina's marriage certificate were John Hamblin and Mary Ann Clawson. Mary Ann Clawson could be the sister of Georgina, aka Polly. I really am at a brickwall, and if anyone can possibly advise of what to do next, I'd really appreciate it. If anyone wants to have the references of the 40 Georgina Jones I have collected, then please let me know. Thankyou for any help you may be able to give me. Please contact: Stella
